The Institution


This project does not require a specific site thus it can be place any where in Rwanda. However, the focus of this project will be serving the people in the rural area about 15 miles outside of Kigali.

Building Diagram:



The diagram above shows the construction intents for all the buildings in this project. It features simple clay building blocks shear walls with stucko finishes and wood truss system for the long span roof. The roof system will consist of wooden truss, wooden rafters, a layer of plywood to control acoustic, and a surrugated metal roof.

Building type:

Each building will features a simple open floor plan to maximize the working space and to maximize air exchange between the interior space and the outside environment. This is essential since air conditioning is not available and is not needed.
